Raquel makes photographs and 16mm films that explore notions of place, shifting perspectives, and temporal frequencies.  

Raquel received her MFA in 2011 from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally at various institutions including: Alderman Exhibitions, Chicago IL; Gallery 400, Chicago IL; Roots & Culture Gallery, Chicago IL; The University of New Mexico, Taos NM; The University at Buffalo, Buffalo NY; Bauhaus Archive Museum, Berlin Germany; among others. She was a 2010 artist-in-residence at Ox-Bow School of Art.

Raquel has received numerous grants to support her work including funding from the University of Illinois at Chicago and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Illinois Arts Council. In 2012-2013, as a recipient of an American-Scandinavian Foundation Fellowship, Raquel was a fellow in the Cultural Geography & Tourism Department at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik, Iceland where she studied the relationship between landscape theory, myth, and Icelandic culture.

She was one of only six contemporary photographers to be featured in the New Bauhaus Chicago: Experiment Photography exhibition at the Bauhaus Archive Museum in Berlin. Her artwork is featured in the publication New Bauhaus Chicago: Experiment Photography, ed. by Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung, Berlin 2017.
